Oh CYMAD, where did it all go wrong?
Launched in 1995, CYMAD - according to their one-page website - was a company which encouraged the strengthening of communities and whose main focus was the administration of the European Union's LEADER II programme to promote rural areas. Although it all appeared to start out well, things took a sharp turn for the worse in 2006. The suspension of a finance director started a chain of events involving a police investigation, a Department of Trade and Industry raid, the company website going offline never to return, a managing director being fined for false accounting, a £40,000 wrongful dismissal bill, the threat of bailiffs to settle said bill, and finally liquidation in 2009 ahead of an Audit Wales report highlighting the mismanagement of millions of pounds in public funding.
